Kesivan & The Lights Return with We Dance At Home and National Tour

After a decade-long recording hiatus, Kesivan Naidoo makes a compelling return with We Dance At Home, a new album and national tour by Kesivan & The Lights, launching on 16 May 2026 at the WITS Theatre.

Fresh from their appearance at the inaugural Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek, the project signals a bold new chapter—one that blends South African musical heritage with global influences shaped by years of collaboration and performance.

At its core, We Dance At Home is deeply personal. Inspired by childhood memories in his grandmother’s home, the album explores rhythm, nostalgia, and collective joy. It reimagines familiar material through a uniquely South African jazz lens, including reinterpretations of Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) by Beyoncé and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, alongside original compositions like “The Shizzle”. The result is a dynamic interplay of groove, melody, and improvisation that invites both listening and movement.

The ensemble, The Lights, remains an evolving collective rather than a fixed lineup. For this tour, the group reunites a transcontinental roster including Bokani Dyer (piano), Darren English (trumpet), Charley Rose (saxophone), Joan Codina (bass), and Fabio Gouvea (guitar). Together, they deliver a sound that moves seamlessly between intimate expression and high-energy performance.

The national tour will take the group across South Africa, culminating at the Baxter Concert Hall on 23 May 2026—a symbolic return following their sold-out 2025 performance at the venue.

We Dance At Home is both a homecoming and a reinvention, reaffirming Kesivan Naidoo’s place at the forefront of contemporary jazz while celebrating the universal language of rhythm and connection. The album will be available on streaming platforms, with CD and limited-edition vinyl releases sold at tour venues.
